The structure, built 763m long in the earthquake zone, is only the second such bridge to be built in the United States. It is a perfect concrete continuous girder bridge with a length of 547m supported by steel cables and the rest supported by piers at the ends of the cross-strait approach bridges. The ropes are anchored to the top of two pairs of 76m high concrete towers, anchored at the bottom of the ropes along the edge of the bridge at a distance of 8m. When it was completed in 1978, the bridge spanned the Columbta River in Washington State as a home monument. Some sources believe that Woodbridge is the most technically most significant North American bridge in design, innovation, art, and erection for nearly two decades.
