李扎戈为拉祜族人,1939年出生于普洱市澜沧拉祜族自治县酒井乡勐根村,被称为“嘎叩八”(芦笙舞王子)。李扎戈从小就喜爱本民族的传统歌舞艺术,13岁时跟随本寨芦笙舞师傅张扎克学习芦笙舞传统动作和套路。当有老人讲拉祜人传统故事或民歌、古诗时,他都专心听学,从不放弃。有重大节日或祭祀活动,他都跟师傅参加,悉心学习,终于使自己成为拉祜人的“芦笙舞王子”(嘎叩八)。他现掌握芦笙舞的青蛙舞、老鹰舞、鱼翻 Li Zaguo is a Lahu ethnic group.
