The literature on postmodernism in the United States has been discussed many times at home and abroad, but few are taken care of in the context of the historical process after the Second World War in the United States. The article attempts to illustrate the unique development path of American postmodernism literature and argues that American postmodernism literature is the result of the U.S. historical process after World War II. It was conceived in postwar “beatings” in the 1950s and culminated in formal tests in the “long 1960’s”, weakening in popularity in the late 1970s and 1980s Until its demise in the 1990s and was buried in the rubble of the World Trade Center at 9/11. Postmodernism is the most romantic? After postmodernism or other? The old king of postmodern literature has not yet reached the throne, there is no exact answer, can only do to find new definitions and directions.
