“理论”一语从上世纪80年代开始就涵盖批评,变成高架在文学头顶的形而上学。但随着当时流行的后现代话语淡出视野,曾经风光十足的理论一样开始呈现危机。由此出现的趋势是,理论或者与文化研究并提,或者干脆与文化并提,显示从曲高和寡向平实路线过渡。但理论应有权利也有可能守住它不盲从时尚的尊严。在急功近利的全球化商品大潮中,对于文学自身价值的迷失,理论是无力回天的。但诚如威廉斯反复强调的文化理念,理论无论对于社会还是对于个人,它都是普通平常的。
The term “theory” has been criticized since the 1980s and has become elevated metaphysics at the head of literature. But with the prevailing postmodern discourses of the day, the once brilliant theory began to show a crisis. The trend that emerges is that the theory is raised either with cultural studies or simply with culture to show the transition from the high and the low to the fair. However, the theory should have the right to hold it may not blindly follow the fashion dignity. In the quick tide of globalized product boom, the theory is powerless to the lost of the value of literature itself. However, as Williams repeatedly emphasized the concept of culture, theory, whether for the community or for individuals, it is commonplace.
