In recent years, the problem of increasingly loud videos has become a topic of concern to the film industry, and viewers generally complain that the film is too loud. Probably due to complaints from viewers, many theaters currently have audio attenuators below the calibrated sound level that matches the equipment in the studio during filming. The following article will discuss some of the questions about “loudness” of the soundtrack. How to measure the movie’s “loudness”? Why should the theater lower the sound? Does the new soundtrack format (Dolby SR and the recent digital formats - Dolby SRD, Sony SDDS, DTS) exacerbate perceived loudness? This article describes a study designed to determine the loudness of a perceived long-term soundtrack using meter readings and provides some data.
