Karl Jung’s collective unconscious theory reveals that James Joyce’s The Dublinian is a collective unconscious of the Irish nation’s paralysis of British colonial rule and national rejuvenation. The last story, “The Dead,” is a continuation of this theme. The author’s description of the family Christmas celebration ceremony and the structure of the satirical narrative structure make “Snow” an extremely reflective mirror. However, under the background of the other stories such as Eve and Prayer, the image of Snow is not limited to this topic in a single way. By depicting the hero Gabriel and other objects depicting the image of the Holy Land, the “Dead” depicts the natural landscape at the end of the story as a forgotten newborn illusion.
