At the conclusion of the National Enrolment Seminar of the National Universities in 2000, the Guangdong Provincial Education Commission and the Provincial Department of Education were awarded the title of “Exploration Pioneer in College Entrance Examination Reform” by the Ministry of Education. The Deputy Minister of Education, Lu Fuyuan, presented certificates and medals to the Guangdong Provincial Secondary Technical School Admissions Committee and Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. In 1999, Guangdong Province began to reform “3+X” subjects. In 2000, it further improved the subject setting program. First, it introduced the comprehensive ability test into the “X”, which opened a new path for the reform of college entrance examination content. Guangdong Province took the lead in the reform of the college entrance examination subjects and the contents of the examinations. It was meticulously operated and achieved pilot success. The “3+X” subject setting reform broke the “great unification” examination model and expanded the university’s examination subject design.
