Employment (1) The first quarter employment started warm, continuing the overall steady, steady to good situation. From January to March, there were 3.34 million new jobs in cities and towns across the country, an increase of 160,000 over the same period of last year. At the end of the first quarter, the registered urban unemployment rate in the country was 3.97%, a decrease of 0.05 percentage point month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 0.07 percentage point. In urban areas, 1.29 million were reemployed and 4.1 million were employed in need of employment, an increase of 30,000 over the same period of last year (2) In January, the State Council issued the “Thirteen Five-Year Plan” to promote employment. In February, an inter-ministerial joint meeting on employment of the State Council was held.
