初轧机上下轧辊是通过万向接轴分别由两台电机单独驱动。上万向接轴通过中间传动轴一端与电机联接,另一端与万向接轴联接,由轴承座支撑。下万向接轴直接与电机轴联接,由电机轴承座支撑。由于传动轴轴承座及电机轴承座在设计时没有很好地考虑倾翻力矩的影响。因此,当万向接轴扁头或叉头中心一侧断裂时,便会产生很大的倾翻力矩,以致使地脚螺丝断裂或轴承座上盖裂开,造成传动轴或电机轴弯曲的严重事故。近年来,鞍钢、武钢都出现过这类事故。据对某厂1150初轧机实测结果知,平均轧制力矩为800kN·m,最大轧制力矩为1200~1600kN·m,若出现扭振时,尖峰力矩可达2000kN·m。轧制力矩T和相对应的地脚螺丝受力F、扁头与水平夹角θ列表如下:
