为了追求更高的影像品质与声音效果,不少人都有将CD-ROM光驱升级成DVD-ROM光驱的念头,甚至有人将其列入为购买新计算机时的标准配备。根据TSR市场调查统计指出,全球DVD-ROM光驱的需求量在1999年已经接近1千5百万台,今年预估将会有2千5百万台的需求量;而到了2003年,全球DVD-ROM光驱将会超过7千3百万台以上的需求量,占全部总光电储存产品市场的65％。从需求量看来,DVD-ROM必然会全面取代CD-ROM,DVD-ROM称霸市场只是时间早晚的问题。
In pursuit of higher image quality and sound effects, many people have the idea of upgrading a CD-ROM drive to a DVD-ROM drive, and some even include it as a standard device for purchasing a new computer. According to TSR market survey statistics, the global demand for DVD-ROM drives in 1999 has been close to 15 million units this year is expected to have 25 million units demand; and in 2003, the global DVD -ROM optical drive will exceed 73 million units demand, accounting for 65% of the total optical storage products market. It seems from the demand, DVD-ROM is bound to completely replace the CD-ROM, DVD-ROM dominate the market is only a matter of time sooner or later.
