辽宁西部叶柏寿地区由于土地利用长期不合理,自然植被遭到严重破坏,在气候因子作用下,土壤侵蚀强烈,水土大量流失,耕地缩减,肥力降低,已成为当地发展农林生产的主要障碍之一。 本区气候属半干旱类型,年降水量400~500毫米,降雨特点高度集中,7、8两个月即占全年降水量70%以上,在此期间常有强度很大的暴雨,有时连续1~2天的大雨,就可降落全年总雨量的1/3~1/4或更多,这是本区地表径流大量发生的主要原因。 辽西丘陵地形起伏,坡度稍大而坡面较短。叶柏寿地区现有的母质类型至少有以下几种:花岗片麻岩、页岩残积物;红土;第四纪黄土性沉积;红土及黄土混合坡积物。成土母质的不同类型,在很大程度上决定着土壤的基本物理性质,对土壤侵蚀的发展影响颇大。

The climate in this area is a semi-arid type, with an annual precipitation of 400-500 mm. The rainfall features are highly concentrated, accounting for more than 70% of the annual rainfall in the two months of July and August. During this period, heavy rainfall often occurs, sometimes continuously Heavy rainfall of 1 to 2 days can drop 1/3 ~ 1/4 or more of the total annual rainfall, which is the main reason for the large-scale occurrence of surface runoff in this area. The hilly terrain in western Liaoning undulates with a slightly larger slope and a shorter slope. There are at least the following types of parent materials in Yebai Shou area: granitic gneiss, shale remnants; laterite; Quaternary loess sediments; and laterite and loess mixed slopes. The different types of soil parent materials determine the basic physical properties of soils to a great extent, which have a great impact on the development of soil erosion.
