五四时期的湖南妇女解放运动从要求婚姻自决权开始,继而发展到要求男女教育平等权、财产继承权、参政权等,一直走在全国的前列。究其原因,一方面,湖南有一批如曾葆荪、吴家瑛、王昌国、王钰、许友莲、周天璞等为代表的非常优秀的觉醒女性;另一方面,也与《大公报》等新闻媒体的宣传鼓动是分不开。 During the May 4th Movement, the women’s liberation movement in Hunan began its pursuit of the right of self-determination of marriage and then went on to call for the equal right of men and women to education, right of inheritance and right to participate in politics.
