眼睛是心灵之窗,演员演戏要靠眼睛传神。但许多演员双目失明之后,依然登台,红毡献艺,且完全不逊色于明眼演员。咸丰年间,昆弋班中有一位最好的生角,名曰孝三丁,系旗人,齐化门大街关帝庙票房出身。到光绪初年已70来岁,双目失明尚搭安庆班,时常出台。每逢上场,有人领他到台帘里边,锣鼓一到,即自上台连唱带做,犹复精神饱满,一丝不乱。台下不知情者根本无法断定他是盲人。演完下场时,走近台帘,便有人将他扶下。
