过去在中南地区,不知道有磷矿床的存在,解放后,由于普查勘探和群众报矿的结果,已知的矿点和矿化点逐渐增多。根据这些点的综合研究,已能初步提出中南磷矿的工业类型及其找矿远景区的轮廓。同时,就目前资料来看,中南磷矿的前途也是很有希望的。从矿床的工业类型来看,在中南地区内已经肯定的有受变质磷块岩矿床和地台型磷块岩矿床两种,同时它们在地理上的分布,似乎和地质构造单位以及古地理有密切的关系,因此我们可以从地质构造单位和古地理方面来谈找矿远景。
