杨卫平：江苏吴江人；回族，１９５０年１０月８日山生。原湖北日报社副社长、党委委员、高级记者、楚天都市报总编辑。 １９９６年１０月，杨卫平请缨创办楚天都市报。次年２月，他被确诊患鼻咽癌，仍抱病工作，率部４年不到创造了该报日发行量逾１００万份、年广告额过２亿元
