本文拟就鸦片战争时期美国赴华传教士的若干活动与观点,以及美国政府侵华政策的制定与实质,作一些初步的探讨,以透视两者之间的内在联系,并进而说明,为什么美国在对华进行经济扩张的同时,在思想文化领域中也力图摧毁中国的“万里长城”。 This article intends to make some preliminary discussions on the activities and views of the United States missionaries to China in the Opium War and the formulation and essence of the U.S. government’s policy on aggression against China so as to see the intrinsic link between the two and further explain why the United States While economic expansion is taking place in China, it also seeks to destroy China’s Great Wall in its ideological and cultural spheres.
