The contest explored the development of a site formerly attached to the heart of West Berlin city center. Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, here is a microcosm of the isolated island of Berlin. Although located along the now bustling commercial street of Kudamm, it is a totally enclosed and unreachable plot. The existing complex, designed by Hans Dustmann in 1956, is a typical building product of the 1950s. The prestigious Krantzler Cafe is right here. At the time of the report, the concept of redevelopment of block structures was prevailing at the time. The original building complex was built on the platform floor and the slab rose at the top or back.
