随着我市种植业结构的调整和农业生态环境的变化,农作物虫害种群结构亦不断变化。1991年5月份,我市降雨量偏多,气温较低,瑞典蝇(Oscinella frit L.)的发育进度推迟,危害时间长,使常年为次要害虫的瑞典蝇突发成灾。其来势之猛,危害之重,在我市尚属首次。据调查,我市玉米田瑞典蝇发生面积为43万亩,占玉米播种面积的26%。其中,严重发生面积为20万亩,占发生面积的46%。
