红枪会是民国前期兴盛于华中、华北一带的农民自卫武装(会道门组织),因会员多使用红樱枪而得名,最先起源于1916年的山东农村,由义和团运动失败后回归故里的义和拳教民为对付猖獗匪患而组织起来的自卫武装,其后,逐步传入华北、华中多省。红枪会的基本组织为会堂(又叫香堂、学堂),每堂设一学长,由本村德高望重者担当,学长负责聘请老师,传授吞符咒、练拳棒、焚香请神等技能,训练会员上阵作战等;
