The properties and characteristics of nanometer magnesium hydroxide [Mg (OH) 2] flame retardant were introduced. The preparation method and process, the flame retardant mechanism, the surface treatment and the application of nanometer magnesium hydroxide in polymer composite materials were discussed in detail. Finally, it forecasts its future development direction.
