除虫菊约在我国的汉朝初期即开始用作杀虫剂,防治农业害虫。十九世纪初,以除虫菊为主要原料的杀虫剂传入西欧,由于天然除虫菊数量有限,因此化学家不断探索合成除虫菊的可能性。1949年国外开始合成出一种拟除虫菊酯,即丙烯菊酯,但因其在光作用下不稳定,不宜在农业上使用。1973年Elliott等成功地合成出在光作用下稳定的拟除虫菊酯,先研究出二氯苯醚菊酯(除虫精),其光稳定性比丙烯菊酯
Pyrethrum about early Han Dynasty in China began to be used as pesticides to prevent agricultural pests.
