Kurt Vonnegut was hailed as America’s Most Admired Artist for his discussion of positive art for American life. Many scholars at home and abroad have made an in-depth study of Vonnegut’s satirical style, black humor, writing skills and his humanism thoughts, but have not paid much attention to his artistic concept. The constant exploration of the world has always been its focus of attention. Therefore, by analyzing the image of Coulter Pilgrim, the hero of the Fifth Slaughterhouse, by Kurt Vonnegut, this article reveals how the author passes the artistic Create, shake off the shadow of the coalition forces on the bombing of Dresden and explain the spiritual healing function of the arts.
