Hong Kong Consumers Who Give Up US Passports Many in Hong Kong are eager for U.S. passports. In particular, some people who have doubts about the future of Hong Kong after 1997 have even done everything possible to run a U.S. passport. However, Mr Chu Young-lin, Executive Director of Watertown, Hong Kong, announced in June 1994 that he would renounce the U.S. passport and become the first Chinese to relinquish U.S. citizenship.
