毛主席號召的在全國範圍內進行的知識份子的思想改造運動,使得參加過這一運動的大、中學校教師們在思想上有了顯著的提高。在這次思想改造運動中,曾經嚴重地打擊了各種反動思想,嚴格地批判了資產階級的腐敗思想,給工人級階思想在學校中的領導地位奠定下了鞏固的基礎,給今後新民主主義教育在學校中的健全發展開闢了廣闊的道路。在許多學校中,絕大部分教師經過思想改造後,都產生了在工作上積極、學習上努力等進步的表現,如自動要求多擔任授課鐘點,主動地給請假教師代課,上課認真準備,虛心聽取學生的意見改進教學。教師之間開始掌握運用批評與自我批評的武器,團結有了進步,學習政治的要求普遍提高。不少教師提出要求入黨入團,有的並以爭取參加共產党作為自己終身奮鬥的目標。這些進步表現,在一部分中等學校中尤為顯著。但是,對這次思想改造的成果,絕不能占計過高,對今後的學校教育工作,也決不可存有過分樂觀的看法,以為經過這次教師的思想改造之後,什麼問題
