文化的渗透与影响往往是在“能指”与“所指”两个层面。岭南文化进入广东高等职业院校的设计教育之中,要适应其侧重技艺教学的办学目的,并成为清晰而具有条理性的教学内容,只能从显性的能指层面入手。第一层级的能指包括岭南手工技艺、视觉艺术符号、装饰纹样及其他岭南文化符号,第二更高层级的能指是从岭南文化较深层死亡结构中提炼、转化出来的文化符号,二者共同构成岭南文化的可操作性的能指系统,以作为高等职业院校设计专业的教学内容。在具体的教学过程中,能指系统所牵涉的自然成为教学的补充,将岭南文化的内涵有选择性地带入教学。
