Foreword In the United States, approximately 8 million workers are exposed to occupational and industrial vibrations, including truck and bus drivers, drivers of heavy equipment and agricultural vehicles, chain saw operators, and users of power tools and pneumatic tools. Human body vibrations can be roughly classified into two categories: 1. “Integral vibration” refers to the vibration transmitted to the entire body through some supporting structures (such as seats on heavy equipment vehicles, agricultural vehicles, trucks or buses). 2. “arm” or “partial” vibrations applied to specific parts of the body by vibrating chain saws, electric or pneumatic tools, etc.
