Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of tuberculosis control in Jinchuan County, Sichuan Province from 2010 to 2014, and provide a basis for scientific prevention and control. Methods The data of prevention and control of tuberculosis in Jinchuan County, Sichuan Province from 2010 to 2014, personnel input and patient treatment management were collected and the control effect was analyzed. Results A total of 209 TB patients were registered in Jinchuan County from 2010 to 2014, with an average annual enrollment rate of 56.75 / 100,000. In 2014, the registration rate of active tuberculosis patients decreased by 9.82% compared with that of 2010; the registration rate of smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis dropped by 54.43%, the difference was statistically significant (χ ~ 2 = 98.73, P <0.05). The rate of sputum examination in newly diagnosed patients reached 96.59%, an increase of 26.57% compared with that in 2010. The positive rate of sputum smear showed a decreasing trend (χ ~ 2 = 123.49, P <0.05). Tuberculosis prevention and control institutions on the patient’s system management rate remained above 97%; initial treatment of smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis patients the average cure rate was 97.92%, retreatment smear positive pulmonary tuberculosis cure rate reached 100.00%. Conclusion The implementation of the government-led TB prevention and control measures in Jinchuan County has achieved remarkable results. The epidemic of tuberculosis has dropped significantly, and the quality of treatment and management of patients remains at a high level. However, laboratory testing should still be strengthened in order to promote the sustainable development of tuberculosis prevention and control.
