旧方志是我国优秀文化遗产中一块瑰宝。据统计,流传至今的旧方志约有9,000种,占我国现存古籍的十分之一左右。这些方志记录了各地的地理概貌、自然资源以及历代政治、社会、经济、文化、科学技术、军事、艺文等各方面的实际情况,为人们了解一地方的历史状况提供了较为翔实可靠的依据。方志中如此丰富而又珍贵的资料,可以在今天的经济、文化、教育、政治、国防等方面的建设以及科学研究事业中发挥重要作用,应当充分地加以开发和利用。
Old Chronicles is a treasure of China’s outstanding cultural heritage. According to statistics, there are about 9,000 old chronicles that have been circulating so far, accounting for about one tenth of our existing ancient books.
