Comrades, on behalf of the presidium, I announced the official opening of the trade union meeting in Asia and Australia. Under the leadership of the World Trade Union Federation, after long-term preparatory work, the trade union meeting in Asia and Australia opened today in Beijing, the capital of the People's Republic of China. The working class of China and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions enthusiastically welcome this great conference of international workers in China and it is a great honor. The meeting of trade unions in Asia and Australia today can be held in China as a result of the powerful development of the progressive workers' and national liberation movements in Asia and Australia. This is the development and expansion of the world democratic trade union led by the World Federation of Trade Unions and opposes the splittist policy of the leaders of the U.S., British and Dutch reactionary unions. We must uphold the great unity of the international workers' movement in safeguarding the rights and interests of the world peace, democracy and the working class
