时量范畴属于语义语法范畴。时量范畴建立的条件是语法意义的对立及对立的语法意义在句法结构中体现出来的制约作用。前期因为一部分研究对象没有列入考察范围,所以建立的语法范畴尚不完整。在[+持续]意义基础上依[+动作持续量][+状态持续量][+影响持续量]等语法意义的对立可以建立计算量范畴;在[-持续]意义基础上依[+关系量][+处置量]等语法意义的对立可以建立换算量范畴;计算量范畴和换算量范畴在[+计量]意义基础上依[+持续量][-持续量]的对立可建立其上位范畴———时量范畴。时量范畴是一个分层的范畴系统。
