公主寺大雄宝殿的明代壁画是五台山地区现存壁画的代表之一,同时也是我国现存明代壁画中的上乘之作。殿内除北壁少有损毁外,其他三壁均保存完整。壁画作者巧妙地将儒释道三教人物合为一体,画面庞大、内容丰富;构图以佛祖为焦点,采用了上下排列的方式展开画面,形成了排山倒海式的空间结构;人物造型严谨、生动,均准确反映出各行业人物的性格特征;色调以朱、黄、绿为主,整体偏暖。画面整体格调热烈而祥和,充分彰显了明代壁画的审美特质。
The murals of the Ming Dynasty in the main hall of the Princess Temple are one of the extant murals in the Wutai Mountain area and are also the finest works in the existing murals of the Ming Dynasty in our country.
