韩国与中国山东省紧密相邻,隔海相望,两国近在咫尺,民间素有“可闻邻国鸡呜犬叫”之说。自中国改革开放以来,特别是韩中两国建交以来,韩国与山东省之间的合作跨入了一个崭新的发展阶段,双方在政治、经济、文化等领域的交流打破了冷战时期所形成的隔离状态,从无到有、从小到大得到了长足的发展。截至到2003年5月31日,在山东省投资的韩国企业达8303家,总投资额为72.6亿美元(合同额为122.5亿美元),占韩国对中国投资总额的三分之一以上。2002年,韩国与山东省的贸易额达74.15亿美元,超过日本而成为山东省的最大贸易伙伴国;访问山东省的韩国游客达25万人,占访问山东省的外国游客总数的34%。现在,在山东省常住的韩国侨民达5.8万人,另有2千多名韩国留学生在山东大学、中国海洋大学、青岛大学等高等
South Korea is closely adjacent to Shandong Province of China and across the sea, the two countries are close at hand. Since the establishment of China’s reform and opening up, especially since the establishment of diplomatic relations between South Korea and China, the cooperation between South Korea and Shandong Province has entered a completely new stage of development. The number of South Korean tourists visiting Shandong Province reached 250,000, accounting for 34% of the total number of foreign tourists visiting Shandong Province. At present, there are 58,000 Korean Koreans resident in Shandong Province, and more than 2,000 Korean students at Shandong University, Ocean University of China and Qingdao University.
