Art inherits and develops with both relatively stable national and geographical features, and is always accompanied by exchanges between different ethnic and regional art. This exchange is one of the major motivations for the continuous development of human art. Pre-Qin and Han Dynasties are the basic stages of the formation of Chinese music and dance art, and the exchange and fusion of different elements of music and dance are the important conditions for this foundation. The exchange of music and dance between the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, the birthplace of the two major civilizations of China, means north and south exchanges. The exchange between the hinterland of the Central Plains and the neighboring ethnic groups and regions is the main form of artistic exchange during this period. War and political exchanges are important driving forces for the exchange of music and dancing.
