《山海经》是我国先秦古籍,是一部富于神话传说的最古老的地理书,全书共计18卷,包括《山经》5卷、《海经》8卷、《大荒经》5卷。书中使用了大量计量单位,包括里、仞、丈、寻、步、尺、岁、月、日等共521处。作为中国最古老的典籍,这些单位和量值,可从一个侧面反映当时计量发展的实际水平。一、长度单位“步”步是长度最原始的计量单位之一,一般将左右脚各走一步,定为长度单位“步”。《孔丛子·小尔雅》记载:“跬,一举足也,倍跬谓之步”。“步”在《山海经》中共出现2次:是山也,广员三百步,其名曰发丸之山(《北山经》卷三)。
