Forests are the major source of BVOC (biogenic volatile organic compounds) in ecosystems, and BVOC plays a very important role in the quality of atmospheric environment, tropospheric chemistry and the global carbon cycle balance. The seasonal and diurnal variations of BVOC release are summarized The influencing factors (habitat difference, environmental change, stages of tree development, physiological status and external disturbances) were also analyzed. At the same time, the ecological significance of forest BVOC release was further elaborated. In terms of tree species selection and plant allocation, Ecological health forest tourism resources development and urban forest construction made a few suggestions.
