《楚辞》对中国文学有着深远影响,众多译者曾将其译成英文,而《楚辞》中纷繁的动、植物意象则成为翻译的一大挑战。本文选取《九歌·山鬼》一诗为中心,对比霍克斯,韦利,杨宪益、戴乃迭夫妇和许渊冲四个译本中动、植物意象的英译,以期找到更好的传达诗歌意象的翻译方法,使得目的语读者能像源语读者一样感受到《楚辞》的独特魅力。 “Chu Ci” has a far-reaching influence on Chinese literature, many translators have translated it into English, and numerous artistic and botanical images in “Chu Ci” have become a major challenge in translation.
