The root system is an important underground organ formed by the long-term adaptation of plants to land conditions and plays an important role in the entire ecosystem. Fine roots, as the most important part of the root system, play an important role in carbon balance and nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems. Pinus massoniana is a fast-growing endemic species in China, integrating economic value and ecological value into one. In this paper, the research progress on fine root biomass, turnover and longevity of Pinus massoniana is reviewed, and the future research is put forward to provide a reference for the research of tree root ecology in China.
