各大型权威辞书在给“僵”字作解时,其中有一条义项便是“不活动,僵硬”,然其所列举的例证便是“百足之虫,死而不僵。”如《辞海》(上海辞书出版社,1979年版)第689页中对“僵”字的注释②便是如此。再如《汉语大字典》《辞源》也是如此。笔者认为此处的“僵”字义项是值得商榷的。 “百足之虫,死而不僵”是一俗语,语最早见于三国魏·曹元首((?))的《六国沦》,语曰:“百足之虫,死而不僵,扶之者众也。”其中,“百足”指马陆,此虫体长稍扁,长寸余,由许多环节组成,各节有足一至二对,中断分两截,头尾仍能各自行走。清·赵翼有语:“至死不僵虫百足。”意思
