In this article, I will share with you some of my work diaries from 1985 to 1988, when I was teaching at Tianjin University’s Department of Architecture. First, let me introduce some background information. 1965-1973, I studied architecture at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In the then western society, many young people, including myself, were very idealistic and dreamed of the long-lasting peace and reunification of the world. We are very much interested in the different cultures, philosophies and beliefs of the world. For example, we have all read the Tao Te Ching and the Book of Changes. At the same time, China is a very closed country to the West, full of unknown. The more I do, the more I am interested in her. In the 1970s I also tried to learn Chinese. Finally, after 10 to 11 years of working as an architect in Canada, I got the chance to visit this country.
