Abstract Objectives The European guidelines point out that left ventricular end diastolic wall thickness greater than 15 mm suggests hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) but is difficult to identify with hypertensive heart disease (HHD). Cardiovascular MR predictions of HHD but not HCM were explored when the end-diastolic wall thickness was> 15 mm. Methods A retrospective analysis of 2 481 consecutive clinical cardiovascular MR imaging patients from 2014 to 2015 was performed. Twenty-nine patients with 464 segments of end-diastolic wall thickness> 15 mm HCM were analyzed for exclusion of other cardiac abnormalities, hypertension, and renal abnormalities. Forty-two patients with 432 end-diastolic wall thickness> 15 mm HHD (no other coexisting heart disease) were analyzed. The maximum end-diastolic ventricular wall thickness and location, whether there is a strong delay
