The high wear resistance of superhard materials such as diamond and boron nitride allows these materials to be used for surface grinding (especially when productivity needs to be improved). However, the main problem until now is the reshaping of the grinding wheel after wear. This article discusses the requirements and commonly used solutions for reshaping grinding wheels. It focuses on a rolling method that shapes superabrasive grinding wheels. The bonding agent for grinding wheels is adapted to this method and gives some conditions. The forming process places special demands on the grinding machine and its control. During the test, the ideal machining conditions and results for shaping and grinding the grinding wheel were determined. This shows that this method of superabrasive grinding wheel rolling can be used in small batches, whereas in mass production this method is limited to resharpening of the grinding wheel (dressing of the resurfacing face).
