美国印第安诗歌经历了一个主流文学排斥、歧视、忽视、接纳、支持的漫长历史过程。在二十世纪六七十年代“红种人权力运动”和“美国印第安文艺复兴”的影响和推动下,得到了空前的发展,出现了多位印第安诗歌史上杰出的诗人,乔伊·哈娇便是其中一位。在其诗歌创作中,哈娇拒绝主流文化的同化,在书写中回归印第安传统,融合印第安文化中独有的“说故事”和“灵视”等印第安传统和宇宙观,在部族文化的同时,重新追求部族及个人的自我定位。
American Indian poetry has experienced a long history of repudiation, discrimination, neglect, acceptance and support of mainstream literature. Under the influence and promotion of the “Red Man Power Movement” and the “American Indian Renaissance” in the 1960s and 1970s, unprecedented development has been achieved. There are many prominent poets in the history of Indian poetry. Yi Hajiao is one of them. In her poetry, Hajiao refuses assimilation of mainstream culture, returns to Indian tradition in writing, integrates Indian traditions and cosmologies such as “story ” and “Lingshi ” unique in Indian culture, At the same time, re-pursue tribal and personal self-positioning.
