Objective: To investigate the effect of community health education on the blood pressure and treatment compliance in hypertensive patients. Methods: The clinical data of 230 hypertensive patients admitted to three communities in the city in the past 4 years were retrospectively studied. We divided the 230 patients into regular and health education groups based on the different modes of care, each with 115 patients in each group. In our hospital, routine nursing was conducted for patients in routine group, and community health education was conducted on the basis of routine nursing (same method as conventional group) patients in health education group. After six months of nursing, the changes of blood pressure and compliance with treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: Before receiving nursing care, there was no significant difference in diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure between the two groups (P> 0.05). After receiving nursing care, the diastolic and systolic blood pressures decreased significantly in both groups The diastolic pressure and systolic pressure in the education group were significantly lower than those in the conventional group, the difference was significant (P <0.05). After receiving nursing care, patients in the health education group had significantly higher adherence to the treatment than those in the conventional group, and the difference was significant (P <0.01). Conclusion: The clinical effect of community health education on hypertensive patients is significant, which can effectively improve the compliance of treatment and reduce the blood pressure. This method of nursing is worth promoting in clinic.
