’99中国澜沧江源头地区科学探险考察,于今年6月25日至8月5日进行。考察队在40天中经历了一般人难以想象的艰难困苦,以严密的科学态度和科学方法,终于在人类历史上第一次发现并确定了我国著名的国际河——澜沧江的源头,解决了国际地理学界的一大难题,使澜沧江真正成为“有源之水”。重要的国际河属于太平洋水系的澜沧江——湄公河,并非一般的河流,它流经中国、缅甸、老挝、泰国、柬埔寨和越南,全长4880公里,是东南亚第一大河。流经我国境内2354公里的河段称澜沧江,境外河段称湄公河。它具有内河、界河和多国国际河流的性质。早在公元120年前,它就作为流域各国著名的民族文化走廊和天然通道发挥着重要作用,被称为东南亚文明发展的摇篮。澜沧江下游流域的人民语言相通,风俗相近,文化相互影响较深,经济上互补性极强,友好往来十分久远,在世界上一直被传为佳话。今天,它已成为我国西南地区与东南亚 ’99 China Science and Technology Exploration Lancang River source exploration, in June 25 this year to August 5 for.
