This article is a Chinese scholar’s retrospection and reflection at the turn of the century on China’s politics and ideological history.It mainly inquires into how China treaded on the Marxist road.Before China chose Marxism,she experienced the national salvation movement against foreign invasion and oppression and the radical democracy.The failure of the peaceful reform led to the revolution;and the failure of the revolution led to the large scale people’s revolution.The article also considers the role of Chinese history and traditional culture in this historical course.
