Rare earth halides, especially the widely used chlorides, are easily hygroscopic and hydrolyzed, which brings great difficulties to the study of the properties of molten salts. In the past, when studying the properties of neodymium chloride-containing molten salt system, the method of pre-dehydration was mostly used to prepare samples, which not only resulted in heavy workload but also difficult to avoid the influence of moisture and oxygen during the transfer. In this work, the ammonium chloride chlorination method was directly introduced into the thermal analysis of molten salt system containing neodymium chloride, which is easy to operate, saves the reagent and obtains satisfactory knot
