“雅”是一个内涵丰富又发展变化的范畴。本文通过对先秦典籍中“雅”的应用及后世的相关论述的分析研究，认为雅在当时有三种有代表性的意义，即雅与鸦、雅与夏、雅与正；并且从语音、音乐、文学三个层面上详尽地阐明了先秦儒家的尚“雅”倾向。 “Ya” is a category with rich connotation and development and change.
