The International Association of Geology and Upper-air Physics (IAGA) held the 17th International Symposium in Canberra, Australia, from December 3 to December 14, 1979. There are 15 abstracts on seismic magnetism. Among them, there are 12 articles in the panel discussion on the construction of magnetism (seismic magnetism effect). According to Shapiro, the convener of the group in the Soviet Union, Introduction to Johnston and Australia’s Stacey, the main topics in this section are: (1) changes in the geomagnetic field caused by the modern processes of the Earth’s lithosphere; (2) the long-term changes in geomagnetic anomalies and their relationships with The relationship between the tectonic activity belt, the anomaly area caused by the vertical movement and horizontal movement of the crust; (3) the seismic magnetic effect: observation and explanation; (4) the simulation study on the construction of magnetic effect, such as artificial lake experiment and nuclear explosion; 5) Experimental study on the electromagnetic properties of rocks under high temperature and high pressure conditions. Three more magnetic digests were arranged at a general discussion meeting called Creer of the United Kingdom, which said that the purpose of the symposium was to provide a forum for dissertations of the Earth’s interior magnetic field of greater scientific relevance , But these articles are not suitable for a symposium. The three abstracts are: (1) the short-period variation of geomagnetic short-period in Tangshan earthquake area and the distribution of the upper mantle high-conductivity layer; (2) the physical basis and field observation of the seismic magnetic effect; (3) the geomagnetic change of lunar and solar cycles Relationship with the earthquake An overview of the 15 abstracts above (including five in the United States, three in the Soviet Union, two in China and Turkey, and one each in Japan, East Germany and Yugoslavia) is as follows.
