英国人如此喜欢谈天气,自然语汇里也少不了跟天气有关的成语。比如“It rains cats and dogs”,虽然这个句子已经属于陈词滥调,很少使用,但我们中国学生还是都很熟悉。多了解掌握一些“英语天气成语”,一定会使你的作文锦上添花。
1. a bolt from the blue (晴天霹雳)
用来形容事情发生得如此突然,让人感到惊讶和措手不及。
例句:
The news of her father’s death came as a bolt from the blue.
她父亲去世的消息犹如晴天霹雳。
2. to have a face like thunder (火冒三丈)
形容一个人非常生气,达到怒不可遏的程度。
例句:
I couldn’t believe my eyes; he had a face like thunder when he came out of the manager’s office this morning.
我简直不敢相信我的眼睛,他今天从经理办公室出来的时候满脸怒气。
3. to take a rain check (改天吧,以后再说)
表示当下不能做什么事情,但是不排除日后的可能。
