委婉语是用温和、含糊和迂回的用语进行表述的一种手段来避免直接说出令人不愉悦,或者对人不够尊敬的表达,这样也能使说者更能恰如其分地表达自己地思想感情,也能够使听者接受本来不容易接受地事实或者感情或者态度。委婉语的出现和发展不仅和生存的社会环境有密切的关系,还具有坚实的语言基础,有着广泛深厚的文化土壤,是一种社会语言学现象,体现着一定的交际手段,执行着一定的社会功能。本文将从社会语言学的角度对委婉语进行简单的分析。
